College can be an exciting place, though at times it may become overwhelming and stressful.

Our mission at the Counselling Centre (CC) at IIT KGP is to promote the mental health of all our students, to improve their quality of life and create a learning environment that facilitates their individual development.

As specialists working with students, our staff can help you address whatever it is that may be of concern to you and is affecting your well being. The Counselling Centre offers a broad range of services including individual therapy, group therapy, as well as medication, assessment and management.

In addition to these, CC provides a range of programs to promote mental health, emotional resilience and wellness throughout the campus community. Our counsellors interact with students during orientation, conduct sensitization programs and theme-focused short-term group sessions in students Halls of Residence, and are in consultation with faculty and staff in every academic department of the Institute. The Counselling Centre also runs a Gatekeepers Training Programme for Student Coordinators to address suicide prevention and effectively deal with stressors on campus.

Confidentiality - All sessions are confidential and no information is released to anyone without your permission. The obvious exceptions to confidentiality include cases that involve imminent harm and danger to you or to others.

To make an appointment, call us during office hours. In emergency situations, students generally can be seen almost immediately.

Counselling - 10:30 am to 7:30 pm; Monday through Friday

Psychiatric Consultation: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm; 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month

Appointments can be made at CC by calling us, or you can set up an appointment in person to the Counselling Centre (opposite Gymkhana on the Scholar's Avenue) anytime between 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday.
