Specification :

• Temperature range: Sub-ambient: -170oC to 250oC      (Environment: He), Above ambient: 50 to 600oC      (Environment: N2)
•  Heating rate: Typical: 10oC/min, Maximum: 200oC/min
•  Crucible: Aluminium crucibles typically used in crimped form

Heat capacity, glass transition temperature, phase or crystal structure transition temperatures, reaction temperature

II. Thermo-Gravimetric and Differential Thermal Analyzer (TG-DTA)

• Heating rate: Typical: 10oC/min, Maximum: 40oC/min
• Crucibles: Alumina, Platinum


2. Type of analysis/characterization possible with the instruments:Simultaneous study of weight loss and reactions/phase changes, differential thermogravimetry, degradation, heat capacity, melting/fusion, phase transition temperatures, isothermal studies, crystallization studies.


3. Recent works of significance done with the instrument/facility: Analysis of reactions towards formation of new ceramic compounds, degradation of polymeric materials, influence of interaction between materials on the degradation behaviour .

•  Research on developing new alloys, intermetallics and    ceramic materials
•  Develop understanding of degradation mechanisms
• Interaction between different materials, formation of    new phases etc. Crystallization behaviour of    amorphous materials
