Research Areas

As our Earth becomes increasingly urban, cities and their inhabitants must take the lead in fostering a more sustainable stewardship of the planet’s natural resources. Appropriately and rationally weighing the options available in the light of the aforementioned assertion, I can proclaim that my overall professional goal is to create opportunities and avenues that will help steer the current trajectory of urbanization onto a resource-efficient pathway. Specifically, my efforts are directed towards tackling and generating solutions to complex environmental problems within the framework of ‘sustainable development’, with an emphasis on ‘global climate change mitigation’.

In addition to several high quality review articles in the area of sustainable development, I have published equally significant original research articles in journals like ‘Carbon’, ‘Chemical Engineering Journal’, ‘Bioresource Technology’, ‘Scientific Reports’, amongst others. At least 4 of my research articles have been named as being among the ‘Highly Cited Paper’ by ‘Web of Science’ while 2 of my review papers have been ranked in the ‘ScienceDirect TOP 25 Hottest Articles’. Further, my scholarly work has been critically acclaimed in terms of its quality, innovation and practical relevance with ‘two IChemE (Institution of Chemical Engineers) awards’ in 2015: (1) ‘Research Project of the Year Award (sponsored by Johnson Matthey)’ and (2) ‘Sustainable Technology Award (sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline)’. Most notably, in 2016, I was chosen out of a staggering 757 applications from over 104 countries, as one of the ‘Top 25 Winners’ of the highly acclaimed ‘Green Talents Competition’ by the ‘Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany’. This award was particularly presented in recognition of my outstanding technological contributions and innovations as an up-and-coming young scientist.
