Geology and Geophysics
I work on Ore Geology especially applying experimental sulfide phase equilibria to understanding of ore mineralogy and petrology. My tools include optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman Spectroscopy, electron probe micro analysis (EPMA) and laser-ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). My major research interests have been sulfide/metal partitioning of PGEs during Earth's core formation, partial melting of sulfide ores and, low-T aqueous transport and deposition of U and HFSEs. I have also developed interests in EPMA dating of monazites and in the experimental reproduction of morphology and internal structures of Fe-concretions similar to the Martian blue-berries.
