Research Areas

I work on applications of general theory of dynamics, systems and control to a broad range of engineering problems. These include mechatronics, multi-body dynamics, mechanisms and machines, robotics (soft, mobile, parallel, wire actuated, ...), vehicle dynamics and control (on road and rail), rotor dynamics, Sommerfeld effect, bond graph modelling, simulation and control of multi-energy systems (fuel cell, fluid power, ...), nonlinear dynamics, machinery fault diagnosis, supervision and fault tolerant control, prognosis, cybernetics and human-machine interface, etc. My research involves theory and experiments, mostly industrial applications. However, I sometimes work on eclectic and esoteric theoretical problems just for fun and to satisfy my own inquisitions.

Research aspirants who want to question, challenge, learn and ultimately understand how little they (and I) know and how much more is still unknown are warmly welcome to join my group. There are known knowns, known unknowns and unknown unknowns.  We try to work on problems whose existence are hitherto unknown, i.e. venture (take a leap of faith) into the uncertainty of unknown unknowns.  We take that as challenge and make research an enriching and fun activity, by allowing development of character and abilities to full extent through a friendly and pleasant research environment, helpful peer group and outstanding support network, offered by my vibrant research laboratory.
