Dear Friends

Welcome once again to an overview of what is happening and what is about to happen in this premier institute of learning – IIT Kharagpur. As the institute marches towards its diamond jubilee you are going to see many developments in every sphere of activity. One, for instance, that you can see is this newsletter, now being published in three formats – print, PDF and web.

I take this opportunity to welcome a fresh batch of students to our undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes and congratulate them for choosing IIT Kharagpur as their career destination. I also extend my best wishes to all our students who have successfully completed their studies here and welcome them to our ever-growing family of alumni.

There are questions which every one ask us – what will be the pattern of JEE next year, how are placements this year, when is Puri Gate Road Bridge getting completed? – For answers to all such questions, keep looking at the subsequent issues of Disha. Major new initiatives, innovations and improvements will be reported in this publication, and distributed amongst alumni, students, staff, faculty and all other stake-holders, friends and well wishers of the Institute.
