Qualifications & Experience TO : BE/B. Tech in Computer Science or Information Technology or MCA or equivalent in related field. Relevant experience is desirable.
At least 3 years’ experience in software development including at least 1 years’ experience in lead position and having skills in:
  1. Live industry projects with large domestic / overseas clients
  2. Comprehensive understanding of building, operating and maintaining a large, database oriented, integrated, state-of-the-art IT system including hardware, system software, application software, network (local area as well as wide area) infrastructure and security system
  3. Excellent analytical and problem solving skill
  4. Good communication skill
  5. Good understanding/exposure to:
  6. Modern server architecture and configurations
  7. Operating systems (Unix flavor)
  8. Network systems (local area and wide area)

Responsibilities for the position include:
  • Building, operating and maintaining the entire IT infrastructure of NDL
  • H/W and S/W architecture design; IT project planning, monitoring and control; Work-breakdown, task assignment, supervision & review
  • Coordination with vendors and outsourcing agencies to derive necessary support for smooth operation of the NDL data center
  • Ensuring compliance with all license agreements and contractual requirements
  • User support and ensuring user satisfaction
  • Supervising the jobs of Senior Project Officers (IT) and Project Officers (IT)
SPO / PO (Iinformation Technology) : BE/B. Tech in Computer Science or Information Technology or MCA or equivalent in related field.At. least 6 months’ hand-on experience in real life project.

  13. General understanding of routine maintenance, recovery, and handling failover of a Database Responsibilities for the position include:
    • Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems
    • Performing routine audits of systems and software
    • Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
    • Installing and configuring new hardware and software
    • Adding, removing, or updating user account, resetting passwords, etc.
    • Configuring, adding, and deleting file systems
    • Ensuring that the network infrastructure is up and running
    • Creating, provisioning adding or removing storage to/from computer systems. (SAN or NAS)

    • Troubleshooting any reported problems

    • Development and design of database strategies and planning for future expansion requirements.
    • Plan, co-ordinate and implement security measures to safeguard the database.
    JPO (Information Technology) : BE/B. Tech in Computer Science or Information Technology or MCA or M. Sc. (Computer Science) or equivalent in related field. Relevant experience is desirable but not essential.
    Candidates who will graduate by July 2016 meeting the following criteria are eligible:
    - CGPA of 7.5 and above (or equivalent)
    - Minimum 75% marks in Secondary (10th) level
    - Minimum 70% marks in Secondary (12th) level
    Essential:

        PO (Library) :MLIS/ADIS/M Sc in Digital Library with first class or equivalent in related field and at least 4 years’ experience in similar projects. Excellent analytical skill essential.
        Total 4 years' out of which at least 2 years' experience in Digital Library, preferably in building a multi-disciplinary state-of-the-art digital library with hands-on experience in a digital library projects in the following areas:
        1. Leading a team of metadata annotators/curators
        2. Metadata standards and schemas (Generic and Domain-specific)
        3. DDC Classification Scheme/Subject Headings/MARC Record
        4. Subject classification of contents as per DDC, LCC etc
        5. Harvesting Institutional Digital Repository
        6. Familiarity with Linux environment and working knowledge of Linux commands
        7. Good skill in working with MS-Word, Excel and Power Point
        8. Integrated thesaurus handling and use of Ontology tools
        9. Integration of Citation tools
        10. Software handling for Digital Archiving System, Institutional Repository, E-learning system;
        11. Multilingual Document Processing.
        Responsibilities for the position include:
        1. Task allocation and monitoring a team of metadata annotators/curators
        2. Providing technical guidance to metadata annotators/curators for subject classification, reviewing and editing metadata of different types of e-contents
        3. IDR harvesting
        4. Assisting institutions to set up IDRs and make it open for metadata harvesting
        5. Segregating the copyright and non-copyright e-contents
        6. Categorizing the various e-contents
        JPO(Library) : Bachelor / Master degree in science / engineering / law / medicine / arts / humanities followed by Master Degree in Library & Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc) with first class or equivalent in related field. Excellent analytical skill essential.
        About 1 years’ experience in Digital Library, preferably in building a multi-disciplinary state-of-the-art digital library with skills in:
        1. Metadata annotation (Generic and Domain-specific)
        2. MARC 21 Bibliographic and Authority Format / Dublin Core/IEEE-LOM, etc.
        3. Subject classification of contents as per DDC, LCC etc
        4. Harvesting Institutional Digital Repository
        5. Familiarity with Linux environment and working knowledge of Linux commands
        6. MS-Word, Excel and Power Point.
        Responsibilities for the position include:
        1. Metadata annotation and curation of different types of e-contents, research papers, e-books, audio, video, theses, lecture notes, etc. in to the digital Library software
        2. Document classification as per subject
        3. Searching various categories of open educational resources from the Internet
        4. Uploading the different types of e-contents in the Institutional Digital Repository (IDR)
        5. Reviewing and editing of uploaded metadata of e-contents before final archiving in to the IDR.
        JPO / PO (Archivist) : Masters or equivalent in any subject
        At least 5 years (totao) experience in one or more of the following areas:
        1. Planning, structuring, risk-assessment, operation, and coordination of large volume digitization work to create digital archives for paper records, field records, manuscripts, newspapers, leaflets, posters, books, art material, performances, and the like.
        2. Archiving and Preservation of Audio, Video, and Audio-Visual Material in various areas of science, technology, culture, performing arts, medicine, law and social studies
        3. Metadata Processing and Curatorial tasks for variety of contents in digital archives including indic-script documents
        4. Cataloguing and Dissemination of digital archives
        5. Bibliographic work related to variorum editions
        6. Manuscriptology, Digital Humanities, Cultural Informatics, Digital Heritage
        7. Image and Video documentation.
        JPO/PO (Subject Matter Expert)):Bachelor Honours equivalent (Masters preferred) in any subject with minimum 70% marks in Secondary (Madhyamik or equivalent) and 65% marks in Higher Secondary. Bachelor Honours or Masters in domain area of application preferred. Domain areas include law, medical, fine arts, social science and sports.
        Others:
        • Good command over English, especially in composition
        • Very well versed with computer operation and use of Microsoft Office suite
        • Good typing speed.
        At least 3 years' (total) experience in any one or more of the following areas:
        1. In a library of an institute of any one domain area
        2. Metadata annotation for a digital library in any one domain area
        3. Metadata curation for a digital library in any one domain area
        4. Planning, structuring and operations, coordination of large volume metadata annotation/curation work for a digital library
        5. Cataloguing archives in domain areas
        6. Summarization of documents in domain areas.
        JPO/PO (GUI Design):Masters for PO or Bachelors for JPO.
        At least 3 years’ experience covering:
        - GUI design of at least couple of websites, preferably one of a digital library or equivalent type
        - Independently carrying out GUI design:
        * Following state-of-the-art GUI design practices, techniques and methodologies
        * Capturing user requirements from the functional requirements/flow developed by technical persons and refining these iteratively by comprehending the broad vision/ objective/ outcome of a project by interacting regularly with technical members of the project
        * Visualizing user expectations and cognitive dimensions
        * By judiciously blending in GUI, modern artwork and Indian culture and ethos.
