Inviting young researchers to lead innovation in Next Generation Cellular Network 
research at Vodafone Essar-IIT Centre of Excellence in Telecommunications (VEICET),
IIT Kharagpur.

Telecom Centre of Excellence (TCOE) at IIT Kharagpur is set up by the Government of India  to facilitate Application 
Research in the Country in the field of Wireless Telecommunication and to increase the  active role of India in global 
standards as well as, at the same time address specific technological needs of DOT / Sponsor / Industries. 
Vodafone-Essar is its main sponsors. The centre is an academic partner of Vodafone Global R&D. 

The Research Area of the centre is Next generation telecom networks. The current focus is on 3 rd Generation 
Partnership Project (3GPP)-Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A). The primary interest areas are: 

 ● Wireless Internet: Improve Capacity, Quality of Service, performance and reduce cost per bit. 

 ● Spectrum Sharing and Cognitive Radio: Better Spectrum Utilization; Self Configuring Network. 

 ● Energy: Reduce carbon footprint: Renewable energy; Minimize energy consumption.

 candidates to register for PhD / MS at IIT Kharagpur as per their academic record and performance. Financial 
support  to present a paper in an International conference and possibility of spending a part of their time at a 
collaborating-foreign  university / Vodafone R&D centre exists in the projects.

Duration : Period of Assignment will be 3-4 years (with annually renewable basis)
Qualification and Compensation per month : Flair for Research and Excellent Academic Background (atleast first class althrough) are desirable.
Expertise with Matlab/Simulink will be considered as an advantage. Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF): Retired Professors, 
Professionals (with age limit 70 years), PhD and B.Tech. in relevant area CE/CS/EE); Senior Research Fellow (SRF): 
M.tech / M.S. in relevant area (ECE/CS/EE); Junior Research Fellow (JRF): B.E. / B.Tech. in relevant area (ECE/CS
/EE). The consolidated pay for the respective positions range from Rs. 20,000/- to Rs. 35,000/-Higher initial pay is
admissible for candidates with work experience.
