We have developed the expertise to synthesize structured oxides in the form of nano-powder (0-d), nano-tube (1-d), thin film (2-d), and composite thin film structures (2-2 and 0-3 type). For nano-structured oxide synthesis our laboratory is equipped with microwave-solvothermal equipment, moisture and oxygen controlled glove box, laminar flow clean bench, spin coating unit and several furnaces with programmable temperature control.
For dielectric and ferroelectric thin films we have developed the electrical measurement facilities to characterize them in terms of their frequency dispersion of capacitance, ac/dc conductivity, impedance, time dependent dielectric breakdown etc. For instrument control and data acquisition we have interfaced an impedance analyzer and electrometer to a personal computer using LabviewTM software.
We have developed both dynamic and static flow measurement set up to investigate the gas sensing characteristics of nano-structured ceramics. The dynamic flow set up is equipped with a gas delivery line, gas mixing and humidity control unit, temperature controlled reactor chamber, and resistance transient measurement setup. The system is automated for instrument control and data acquisition using RS232/GPIB interface and LabviewTM software. The sensing unit is also interfaced with a dedicated FFT analyzer and LCR meter for signal analyses and pattern recognition.
The laboratory for battery research is equipped with a semi-automated temperature controlled tape-casting unit for electrode coating, roll press and disc cutter for electrode preparation, glove box equipped with a crimping tool for CR2032 cell fabrication. An automated 8 channel battery analyzer is used to characterize these cells in terms of their charge discharge characteristics, cycleability and rate capability. Additionally we have also a dedicated potentiostat-galvanostat system for electrochemical analyses.
The concrete laboratory is equipped with the facilities to characterize the basic characteristics of cement and to characterize the developed concrete in terms of their cold crushing strength and flexural strength characteristics.
