Dr Indrasis Das is an Assistant Professor in the School of Water Resources at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He specializes in environmental engineering, with research interests in bioelectrochemical systems (microbial fuel cells), wastewater treatment and resource recovery, low-cost electrode and catalyst development for microbial fuel cells, decentralized sanitation, advanced oxidation processes, desalination, and subsurface contaminant remediation. He completed his PhD at IIT Kharagpur, where his work focused on the scale-up of Microbial Fuel Cells for wastewater treatment and electricity recovery. Following his doctoral studies, he served for five years (Nov, 2020 to Feb 2026) at the CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, first as a Scientist and later as Senior Scientist (Scientist-D). During this period, he gained extensive experience in managing industrial wastewater treatment systems, handling complex industrial effluents, and preparing technical and consultancy reports. Combining both academic and industrial experience, he is dedicated to developing practical, sustainable and field-ready solutions to address water and wastewater challenges.
