Delays in maintenance of research instruments cause prolonged downtime, disrupting industry collaborations and PhD research. Also addresses fire and emergency safety gaps in laboratories. Applies only to instruments procured through SRIC-funded projects that contributed overheads.

Eligibility

All UG students of IIT KGP whose curriculum internship is mandatory in summer 2026. Students must commit full-time and cannot hold another internship simultaneously. Supervisor need not have an active project.

Background & Rationale

As part of IIT Kharagpur's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, the Institute is supporting high-impact conferences, workshops and symposia that strengthen academic visibility, bring together leading scholars and practitioners, and showcase the Institute's contributions in frontier areas of research, technology and national development. This third call invites proposals from faculty members / academic units for events to be conducted during FY 2026–27.

Funding Structure

• Institute support will be limited to 75% of the approved conference budget or ₹25 Lakhs, whichever is lower
• Institute contribution may be used for recurring expenditure only
• No overhead / administrative charges will be levied on the Institute contribution
• An advance of up to 50% of the approved Institute contribution may be requested for pre-conference activities
• External sponsorships / income over and above the Institute contribution will be treated as revenue generated and overheads will apply as per Institute norms

• The proposed conference should be aligned with the Institute's thrust areas or themes of national / global importance

Key Conditions & Expected Outcomes

• The conference should be conducted under the aegis of IIT Kharagpur's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
• "Platinum Jubilee Celebrations" should be mentioned in the proposal or acknowledged in the conference brochure
• Conveners are encouraged to incorporate themes or sessions related to IIT Kharagpur R&D
• All bills and supporting documents should be submitted to Accounts by 15 March 2027
• Expected to improve national and international visibility, strengthen academic networks, and create platforms for future collaborations

Context & Purpose

IIT Kharagpur invites faculty-led proposals for the development of new executive education and outreach programmes that can be launched as fee-based offerings under the Institute's executive education framework. The scheme seeks to expand IIT Kharagpur's portfolio of such programmes by supporting faculty members and departments in taking new programmes from concept to successful launch.

Grant Scope & Quantum

• The Platinum Jubilee IoE Course Development Grant will be sanctioned at ₹20,000 per hour, subject to a maximum of ₹15 Lakhs per proposal
• The grant may be used for programme conceptualisation, curriculum design, development of teaching-learning materials and assessments, academic coordination, instructional design, academic approvals, regulatory compliance, and academic coordination for third-party EdTech partnerships
• Routine teaching delivery, marketing and programme operations are excluded

Disbursement & Revenue Treatment

• 50% of the grant will be disbursed upon approval of the programme by OPEC
• The remaining 50% will be released upon successful launch with the minimum enrolment threshold as defined by CEP
• The grant is meant to accelerate programme creation and is not a substitute for delivery earnings
• Revenue generated from the programme will be governed separately under CEP guidelines / the approved revenue management framework

Eligibility & Evaluation

• Proposals may be submitted by individual faculty members, faculty teams, departments, centres or schools
• All proposals must be academically anchored at IIT Kharagpur
• Each proposal must designate a Course Creator / Faculty Lead responsible for end-to-end programme development
• Evaluation will consider academic quality and relevance, feasibility and launch-readiness, and potential for sustainable delivery and scale

Context & Purpose

The scheme aims to increase IIT Kharagpur's academic visibility nationally and globally and promote knowledge dissemination during the Institute's 75-year celebrations. It supports faculty-led creation of high-impact books, monographs, teaching modules, online and offline learning resources, and open-access research outputs.

Supported Outputs

• Joint authorship of books, monographs, teaching modules, online and offline learning resources, and open-access research outputs with academic partners
• Similar outputs with industry partners
• Translation-related outputs may also be considered where they support wider dissemination

Financial Support

• Financial support will be limited to a maximum of ₹5 Lakhs per approved output
• Supported components may include proofreading, publication support, and translation into regional languages such as Bengali, Odia, Tamil and Kannada, and foreign languages such as German and Japanese

Eligibility & Expected Outcome

• Proposals may be submitted by faculty members of IIT Kharagpur
• The proposed output should contribute to academic visibility, knowledge dissemination, outreach, executive education, teaching innovation or wider public / professional engagement
• Outputs with credible academic or industry collaboration are encouraged

Context & Purpose

The Open Knowledge / Concept Capsule initiative supports the creation of short educational videos designed to develop key concepts progressively, moving from school-level understanding to advanced academic and professional insights. The initiative aims to make important concepts more accessible, structured and engaging for learners.

Format & Platform

• Concept Capsules will be developed as short educational videos
• They are intended to explain complex ideas in a structured and engaging manner
• The courses / capsules are proposed to be offered through the NPTEL+ platform
• The initiative is currently intended for internal faculty participation

Educational Relevance

The initiative aligns with the broader vision of NEP 2020 by supporting accessible, curiosity-driven and conceptually strong learning resources. It is intended to help learners access essential concepts that may otherwise remain scattered across unstructured online information sources.

Financial Support

The remuneration structure for faculty members and Teaching Assistants will be as per NPTEL standards. All eligible expenses under the scheme should be incurred by 31 March 2027.

Context & Purpose

The School Connect Grant supports faculty-led outreach programmes for school students and teachers on contemporary themes such as Artificial Intelligence, sustainability, inclusivity, gender sensitivity and related areas. The scheme recognises the importance of introducing such themes at an early stage and strengthening engagement between IIT Kharagpur and surrounding school communities.

Target Groups

• The target groups may include general educators, specialised educators and school students
• Programmes may be designed to engage both teachers and students from nearby / adjacent schools

Delivery Format

• Activities may be conducted in blended mode, combining online and physical delivery
• Programmes may be organised across multiple cohorts to optimise participation and scheduling
• Physical events may preferably be conducted in clusters of schools, with one school acting as the nodal centre
• Each physical engagement may be structured over 2–3 days, as appropriate

Eligible Themes

• Proposals may cover Artificial Intelligence, computational thinking, sustainability, inclusivity, gender sensitivity and other related contemporary themes
• The proposed programme should be suitable for school-level engagement while drawing on IIT Kharagpur's academic strengths

Background & Purpose

As part of IIT Kharagpur's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, the Institute proposes to support faculty-led workshops that strengthen academic engagement, professional capacity-building, interdisciplinary learning and wider outreach. The scheme invites proposals from faculty members / academic units for workshops to be conducted during FY 2026–27.

Funding Structure

• Institute support will be limited to 75% of the approved workshop expense budget or ₹10 Lakhs, whichever is lower
• The Institute contribution may be used for recurring expenditure only
• No overhead / administrative charges will be levied on the Institute contribution
• An advance of up to 50% of the approved Institute contribution may be requested for pre-workshop activities
• External sponsorships / income over and above the Institute contribution will be treated as revenue generated and overheads will apply as per Institute norms

Eligible Workshop Themes

• Workshops may be proposed in academic, research, technology, professional development, capacity-building, industry engagement, policy, innovation, entrepreneurship, societal impact, sustainability, AI / data science, healthcare, manufacturing, mobility, energy, education, or other themes of institutional, national or global relevance
• Proposals with interdisciplinary participation, external engagement, or clear outreach value are encouraged

Eligibility & Proposal Requirements

• Proposals may be submitted by regular faculty members / faculty teams / departments / centres / schools of IIT Kharagpur
• Each proposal should identify the workshop convener / faculty lead, proposed theme, target participants, tentative dates, estimated budget, expected outcomes and mode of delivery
• Workshops may be conducted in physical, online or blended mode, as appropriate
• The proposal should clearly indicate how the workshop contributes to the Platinum Jubilee objectives of academic visibility, outreach, capacity-building and institutional engagement

Background & Rationale

Part of the IoE–PJC FRAME (Funds for Repair, Augmentation and Maintenance of Equipment) Programme. Chemicals and consumables are costly — this is a one-time measure to support researchers who require consumables for their experimental research. There is no formally declared upper limit; faculty members are requested to place their actual requirements, which will be evaluated by a committee.

How to Apply

• Fill the Google Form with your requirements
• Take a printout of the acknowledgement email received in your verified email account
• Sign it (with stamp) and get it forwarded by your HoD/HoC/HoS (signature with date and stamp)
• Submit the signed hard copy to the Office of the Dean SRF (Room 106, Nano CRF SATHI Building)
• Do not start procuring consumables until formal approval is received

Procurement Guidelines

• For procurements below ₹2 Lakhs: follow prescribed Institute procurement procedures and GeM guidelines; submit Non-GeM Certificate (if applicable), bill/invoice and approvals to Dean SRF office
• For goods ₹2L–₹25L: form an LPC (take approval from Dean SRF), then follow the 4-quotation procedure
• Non-GeM certificate is mandatory if procurement is not done through GeM
• Follow Notification No. IIT KGP/S&P/Clari-FM/2026-27/02 dated 22.05.2026 for financial limits
• Preference given to faculty who have not received support from other similar PJC schemes

Expected Outcomes

• Enable IIT KGP faculty and students to perform high-impact experimental research requiring costly chemicals and consumables
• Strengthen the Institute's research ecosystem and scientific output quality

Background & Rationale

Part of the IoE–PJC FRAME Programme. This is an opportunity to invite the service engineer to inspect and service an instrument which might be non-functional or could be considered for an upgrade. The service engineer must submit a fresh quotation in your name, mentioning the PO number of the original instrument (if available). Do not ask the engineer to visit unless you receive specific approval.

How to Apply

• Prepare: PDF copy of equipment PO / Signed Undertaking 01 (format in Google Form), a recent photograph of the equipment, and the quotation
• Fill the Google Form and upload all documents
• Take a printout of the acknowledgement email, sign it (with stamp)
• Get it forwarded by your HoD/HoC/HoS (signature with date and stamp)
• Submit the signed hard copy to the Office of the Dean SRF (Room 106, Nano CRF SATHI Building)
• Do NOT invite the service engineer until formal approval is received

Procurement & Bill Processing

• For Track 4, a single quotation from the OEM or their authorised agent/supplier should suffice
• For bills above ₹2 Lakhs: submit quotation signed by Departmental Purchase Committee with justification to Dean SRF office
• Work can be initiated only after a formal work order is issued — by Dean SRF (if < ₹6L) or by Purchase Section
• All quotations should have 90 days validity
• Preference given to faculty not receiving support from other similar PJC schemes

• Inspection and servicing of sophisticated instruments that may be non-functional (not covered under AMC)

Background & Rationale

Part of the IoE–PJC FRAME Programme. This is an opportunity to repair an instrument that may be lying out of order in your laboratory for want of spares or servicing, or to upgrade existing equipment. A fresh quotation from the OEM (or their authorised agent/supplier) must be submitted, mentioning the original PO number. If parts are purchased from other vendors, a separate justification will be required.

How to Apply

• Prepare: PDF copy of equipment PO / Signed Undertaking 01, a recent photograph of the equipment, Signed Undertaking 02 (formats available in the Google Form), and the quotation
