Master's in Public Policy Law and Governance

The Master's in Public Policy, Law, and Governance (MPPLG) is a two-year, full-time programme designed to provide students with an integrated understanding of the intersections between public policy, legal frameworks, and governance structures. Offered through four semesters, this programme equips graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate and shape the evolving landscape of policy anad governance, both within India and globally.

The programme aims to develop professionals who can engage meaningfully in the policymaking arena, whether through direct participation in government, civil society, or industry, or by contributing to academia and research. Through rigorous interdisciplinary training, participants will acquire a deep comprehension of how law and governance impact public policy, and how policies, in turn, shape socio-political and economic realities.

With a curriculum rooted in multiple disciplines, including law, economics, management, sociology and International relations, the programme prepares graduates to critically analyze and address complex societal issues. The curriculum also includes electives offered from multiple disciplines, curated with a primary focus on skill-building. With a blend of theory-driven and skills-focused courses, the programme fosters an environment that encourages critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and ethical commitment. Graduates are expected to emerge as thought leaders and practitioners capable of crafting innovative solutions to public challenges, particularly in areas where law, governance, and policy intersect.

Eligibility Criteria for MPPLG Programme

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science/Engineering /Law / Medicine/Commerce/Arts. (Not less than four years);
  • 65% or 7 CGPA for General/OBC/EWS category and 60% or 6.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD in qualifying examination with first class in all preceding degrees/examinations;
  • Not exceeding 30 years for General/OBC/EWS; and 35 years for SC/ST/PwD respectively; as on 1st January 2025.
  • Age may be relaxed in case of working executives up to 03 years’ experience;
  • Preference will be given to female candidates;
  • Preference will be given to those with work experience.

Note: The CGPA will not be converted into percentage marks if the degree awarding institute provides marks in CGPA system. Then, the admission will be based on the CGPA awarded in the transcript. If the CGPA is on a different scale other than 10.0, the eligibility of the candidate will be calculated corresponding to the equivalence stated above.

Examination Details

Selection will be based on :

  • Written Test - Computer based (02 hrs duration)
  • Group Discussion
  • Personal Interview

For Written Test :All questions are Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type and carry 1 mark each. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.

Syllabus for Written Test :

Part I consists of following sections:

  • English: 25 questions
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 25 questions

Part II consists of following sections:

  • Current Affairs: 25 questions
  • Logical Reasoning: 25 questions

The Final Selection will be based on merit.
