My research interest is in aerospace combustion and high speed Aerodynamics. I have worked in the area of supersonic combustion (both computationally and experimentally), drag force measurements in a short duration test facility e.g. shock tunnel. In the last few years I have worked on the characterization (including radiative heat loss) of a laser induced spark and its efficacy in the ignition of combustible mixture and on wave drag reduction using single/multiple laser energy deposition. A new experimental facility on laser ignition of liquid fuel (spray)-air mixture and combustion spectroscopy has been developed at IIT Kharagpur. In recent times, the research interests have been in the areas of thermo-acoustic instability, its numerical simulation using high-fidelity in-house computer programming, experimental diagnosis of acoustic oscillations in premixed flames by an in-house developed technique. Being an engineer, the sole aim of the above studies is to solve real life problems related to Aerospace combustion and high speed aerodynamics. The endeavour has been to try and simplify things to maximum possible extent always. Students are an important part in my research/study in the sense I learn a lot from them while teaching as well as when they express their own ideas in research. I extend liberty to the students in choosing the areas of research and encourage independent thinking. My citations could be found at
