Research Areas

  • Near Surface Geophysics
  • Earthquake Seismology
  • Seismic Hazard
  • Downhole & Crosshole Seismic
My areas of  research are near surface geophysics and microzonation. Presently I am working on subsurface delineation, geo-archaeology, hazard zonation in Varanasi and Odisha region using different geophysical tools like GPR, surface and downhole seismic. I and my team are also working on groundwater-seawater interaction at coastal areas of the Bay of Bengal using GPR and electrical resistivty. My students are doing ambient noise survey in Varanasi for subsurface characterization as well as GPR survey at archaeological sites in Varanasi and Odisha as a part of a research proejct sposored by MHRD, Government of India. I am also working on dispersion analysis of surface waves data to evaluate shear wave velocity of individual near surface soil layers. My group is also involve near surface geophysical and geotechnical investigation for site -specific earthquake hazard and slope stability studies in and around Gangtok, Sikkim.
