Research Areas

I am predominanty working on Guided Wave Optics and related Devices & Circuits in Chip Scale (Photonics Integrated Circuits, PICs). My research includes Design, Fabrication (clean room based), and Characterization of PICs in different material platforms (Lithium Niobate, Silicon, Polymers, etc.) depending on its applications in the arena of Passive Optical Components (power splitters, polarization splitters, bandpass filters, etc.), RF-Photonics (modulators, switch matrices, etc.), Optical Sensors (using structures, such as, Mach-Zehnder Interferometer, micro-ring resonators, etc.), Optical Computing (reversible logic gates, etc.), Waveguide Optical Amplifers and Lasers (Er-doped waveguides, etc.) and Nonlinear Optics (new frequency generation, etc.). Many of these devices have direct applications in Fiber Optic Communication Systems & Networks.
