Research interests of Dr. Sushanta Chakraborty includes modal testing of actual as built civil infrastructure, finite element modal updating, condition assessment and health monitoring and damage detection. He is also interested in material property identification of layered FRP type of structures using Inverse problems.
He is actively involved with commissioning of six degrees of freedom multi-axis shake table for real time earthquake analysis in the Department.
Research is also carried out on human induced vibration of suspension and footbridges
Dr. Chakraborty was actively involved in actual modal testing of massive civil infrastructure like car parks and balanced cantilever bridges in United Kingdom and Singapore during Post Doctoral Research and established his own laboratory facility at IIT Kharagpur later
Results are mainly communicated to International Journals for publication
