My research vision is to address major public health challenges across the life course through an integrated approach combining nutrition, maternal and child health, adolescent health, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and tribal health. My overarching goal is to generate evidence that can be translated into effective, context-specific interventions and policies, particularly for underserved and vulnerable populations.
A major focus of my research is public health nutrition, with emphasis on dietary diversity, micronutrient deficiencies, malnutrition, food insecurity, and nutrition-related risk factors for chronic diseases. I am particularly interested in understanding how dietary behaviours and social determinants influence health outcomes from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
My research interests in maternal and child health include maternal nutrition, infant and young child feeding, childhood malnutrition, growth and development, and prevention of nutrition-related disorders. I aim to investigate the intergenerational pathways linking maternal nutritional status with child health and development. In adolescent health, my work focuses on anaemia, nutritional status, dietary behaviour, physical activity, obesity, mental well-being, and other emerging risk factors that influence health across the life course.
With the increasing burden of NCDs, I am interested in studying the nutrition–metabolic health continuum, including obesity, cardiometabolic risk, diabetes, hypertension, and lifestyle-related disorders. I aim to develop and evaluate community- and institution-based interventions for early identification and prevention of these conditions.
Another important area of my research is tribal and underserved population health, where I seek to understand how socioeconomic, cultural, environmental, and behavioural determinants influence nutrition and health outcomes. I am particularly interested in mixed-method and community-based intervention research that combines quantitative evidence with community perspectives.
Moving forward, I aim to establish an interdisciplinary research programme that integrates epidemiology, nutrition, behavioural science, and digital health technologies to develop scalable interventions and generate evidence to improve health equity across the life course.
