Equality in the provision of health care services is essential to a nation becoming self-sufficient. In order to achieve the goal of "Health for all," it is necessary to encourage healthcare facilities and services that are technologically enabled, combining the vital foundations of cutting-edge technology with human health. As a result of technology-driven medical education, it is hoped that laboratory science will take a major leap forward in the future. The establishment of population health policies based on evidence and the promotion of medical education and health science research and development will both benefit from a research-driven environment. The greatest benefit will be for students to learn in an environment that is truly multidisciplinary! Read less

The vision of the Medical education and research Centre in the Kharagpur-IIT system
1.       "Health for all" would be made possible in Jangalmahal and the extensive coastal areas of West Bengal and Orissa by the construction a tertiary super speciality medical centre due to the strategical geopolitical location.
2.      Developing a medical college within the already existing infrastructure of the IIT system will require less financial support than developing a de-novo medical institute of national importance (INI) providing undergraduate and post-graduate education to build future doctors.
3.        An important part of the National Education Policy (NEP) was devoted to MERU-Multidisciplinary Higher Education (MERU). Single-discipline colleges and universities will be phased out and replaced with interdisciplinary institutions or lively clusters of multidisciplinary colleges and universities. The process will be aided by the inclusion of medical education and research within the IIT framework.
4.       With the innovation of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, virtual and augmented reality in the field of information technology and concepts like precision medicine and omics study in the medical science arena, information technology will soon disrupt the field of biotechnology. Medical school within the IIT system will provide a common platform for doctors and engineers to augment the “Make in India” initiative for groundbreaking inventions.
