Food processing, the emerging frontier technology of the current century, is always a challenge to provide food sustenance to the growing population. If surplus production in seasons is not processed on time for future consumption, this may lead to serious social crisis. It becomes imperaative to develop appropriate technologies in the areas of surplus production, process automation and non-availability of technologies with regard to untouched forest productions and other various crops such as chironji, aloe vera, continuous withering of tea leaves, puffing (fat free) of snack food, extraction of neutraceuticals etc. Processing at the production site will cut the transportation cost and reduce unnecessary waste generation at the urban processing sites and pose threat to environment, which otherwise will be used either as cattle feed or compost in rural production site.  Processing at the rural sits will reduce migration of people to urban areas. It will also improve the social-economic status of the producers.
