Research Areas

My primary research focus lies in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, with a particular emphasis on developing novel testing methodologies to assess the dynamic characteristics of soils. One significant achievement during my Ph.D. involved the development of an innovative triaxial testing apparatus capable of measuring the multidirectional stiffness of soils, encompassing nine different types of elastic wave velocities. This capability is instrumental in accurately evaluating the stiffness anisotropy of soils. Additionally, my research delved into analyzing the influence of various grain characteristics, such as surface roughness, grain morphology, and particle size, on the small strain stiffness of granular materials.

Another area of my research interest is in Pavement Geotechnics, with a specific focus on pioneering a novel approach for performance-based design of flexible pavements in alignment with current and future advancements in intelligent pavement compaction practices (Level 5). During my postdoctoral tenure in Australia, I also contributed to the development of advanced and practical models for predicting rutting and resilient modulus characteristics of unbound granular materials and subgrade soils. Furthermore, my research endeavors encompassed the integration of climatic considerations into the design of unbound pavements, catering to the various environmental conditions of Australia.

In addition to these areas of expertise, I have also made contributions to the field of Ground Improvement Techniques. Specifically, my research work focused on estimating the dynamic properties of expansive soils stabilized with fly ash, a byproduct of industrial processes. The utilization of fly ash for the enhancement of expansive soils not only addresses construction sustainability but also contributes to addressing global environmental concerns associated with fly ash disposal.
