Our research broadly focuses on i) monitoring and diagnostics of high-voltage power apparatus, ii) insulation coordination in grid-integrated solar and wind farms, and iii) FEM-based simulation for the design and analysis of high-voltage equipment.
Monitoring and Diagnostics of High-Voltage Power Apparatus:
The research aims to develop innovative methods to extract and interpret information embedded in the frequency- and time-domain responses of transformer windings, facilitating advanced diagnostic applications and improved condition assessment techniques of high voltage power transformer.
Insulation Coordination in Grid-Integrated Solar and Wind Farms:
This research investigates surge and transient phenomena in renewable energy systems, focusing on the effects of switching and lightning interactions and their propagation along transmission lines with multiple reflections. The studies aim to understand the resulting overvoltage and overcurrent stresses on transformers, generators, and power electronic systems, and to develop effective mitigation strategies to ensure reliable and resilient system operation.
FEM-Based Simulation for Design and Analysis of High-Voltage Equipment:
This work involves finite element method (FEM)-based modeling and simulation for the design, analysis, and performance optimization of high-voltage high-frequency transformers, high voltage reactors, and high-voltage polymeric insulators.
