Major interest of my laboratory is to understand the molecular mechanism of pathogenesis of autism and autism spectrum disorders. Currently, are using biochemical, cell biological and genetic and optogenetic approaches to understand the physiological function of a specific protein called Ube3a and how its gain as well as loss of function is linked with autism and autism spectrum disorders. We are also screening pharmacological inducers of Ube3a, which might be useful in the therapy of learning and memory disorders.
