Poetry is a dimension into which all are called but a few enter; and those who enter witness an epiaphany of poetry ferreting 'the magical out of the mundane'. As a seeker of poetry, I enjoy experiencing such moments of verbal magic, and further explore with wonder how a poem exists in the delicate yet dynamic dialectics of moods, melodies, sounds, sense and rhythm; and how in its fragile, unstable and volatile state, it breathes life into language, wherein the word becomes a mantra capable of bringing about inner tectonic shifts in individuals as well as in the collective consciousness of societies!

If the picture above doesn't give a glimpse of what I do, I have added below a short bio-note:

H S Komalesha is the author of Issues of Identity in Indian English Fiction: A Close Reading of Canonical Indian English Novels (Oxford: Peter Lang, 2008). Together with a team of experts, he has published Veneration to the Elders – English translation of Vaddaradhane, the earliest extant Kannada prose work written circa 940 AD  (London & New York: Routledge, 2021) and (New Delhi: Manohar Books, 2020). Under its Makers of Modern Indian Literature series, the central Sahitya Akademi – the National Academy of Letters in India (New Delhi) has featured and published two of his monographs, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu (2014) and Anupama Niranjana (2008). He has also translated and published Sankranti (Kolkata: Sampark Publishers, 2011), an iconic modernist play written by a maverick Kannada writer, P Lankesh. Many of his research articles and translations have appeared in journals of national and international repute. Working in the penumbral spaces of Poetry, Translation, Gender and Culture Studies, he teaches in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Kharagpur.
